The name game

I woke up this morning and found this in my inbox:

Hello everyone,
The trails committee is presenting the “preferred use trails”
presentation to the city council next week and it was suggested during
the last meeting that we name the bike trail.
I’m officially accepting suggestions if you have any.  I DO NOT want
to have my name attached to this trail and the trail committee seems
to agree with that.  I think they decided after “Clark’s” trail that
they wouldn’t do that anymore.  Other than that guideline, it’s pretty
much fair game.

Because this will be a  “preferred biking” trail, I would suggest that
we at least attempt to put some play on words, or cycling phrases in
the name so that other user groups will think “bike trail” when they
hear the name.  I’d probably stay clear of any names that have
connotations of extreme, high speed, death defying, gnarly,
decapitating, limb severing, etc,  for obvious reasons.

To help you get an idea of the trail to help with name suggestions, I
would refer you back to some of the earlier e-mails describing our
goals for the trail.  If you don’t have those still, I would
paraphrase it this way:
It will be a very curvy, twisty, flowing single track trail with some
medium speed sections, but mostly will wind it’s way down the mtn in a
way that will minimize speed and maximize enjoyment.   We’ll use the
natural terrain to create some berms, jumps, drop-offs etc.  It will
start at the top of the canyon near Clark’s trail and wind it’s way
down to the Silica pit, and will be one-way for bikes.  (Foot traffic
will be allowed but it will be a preferred use bike trail.)

I’d love to have this work as a “group brainstorming” exercise, so
please “reply to all” so that we can use suggestions to build-on or
combine names.
So, put on your thinking caps and let us hear your suggestions. Thanks, Jamie Pogue tibiker@mac.com

Let’s help Jamie out with this request.

Here are my initial entries:

1.  Glue Factory-No horse would go on that trail

2. Meatball-I just love this name. When the wife asks where i am riding I can just say meatball.  Who can say no to that?

3. Excuse Chamois-Get it, play on words for excuse me.

4. Flying Squirrel-This is the name for the old ghost

5. Spare Tire-bikingish, yet references being fat

6.Wynonna Judd-She is very curvy, twisted and single
