On November 9th my original blog was banned from Google. The folks at blogger sent me a form to fill out and submit so they could research and reinstate. Well, I received notice to day that it was reinstated. After 2 months of WordPress I am glad I gave up on Google!
Happy Birthday Holly. 32 never looked so good!!!
This year we are spending Christmas and New Year’s at my bro in laws place in Island Park. Check out what we woke up to on Christmas morning.

So here is a fitness update for the past month:

2 days of Samba De Amigo on the Wii
Here is Sambo working his magic playing SDA (SDA is basically a mexican version of Guitar Hero)
Needless to say I am properly rested to begin the assault on 2009!
Here is what a birthday breakfast looks like before the rest of the fixins get piled on top.
Guess who turned 34 yesterday?
Hey ya’ll here is a great site on the basics of avalanches. This link is to the Forest Service’s Avalanche basics course. Remember the triangle of Avalanche safety!
Avalanches scare me. This hasn’t always been the case, but last season Dug gave me a brief avy 101 course that made me see the light (Rick does that mean I need a sheep patch for my ski jacket?). I have had good friends live and unfortunately die from being caught in slides but this still didn’t freak me out. My attitude 5 years ago was let’s go snowmobiling and see who can set off the biggest slide. We literally would find the nastiest cornice and try to get it to break. We were successful more times than not.
Fast forward to today. I am extremely skittish when it comes to an avalanche. I get the daily avy report from the Utah Avalanche Center, and know RED is warning, Orange is bad, yellow requires caution. Check out today’s report.

Avy Savvy
The avalanche danger is HIGH on and below mid and upper elevation slopes, especially those facing west through north through east and southeast. Human triggered avalanche are likely on slopes steeper than about 35 degrees, and slides can be triggered remotely from a distance, so avoid travel adjacent to and below steep avalanche paths. As the winds pick up this afternoon and this evening, a natural avalanche cycle could occur again. Only those people with excellent avalanche skills and experience should travel in the backcountry, and travel should be on gentle slopes and ridge lines well away from avalanche paths.
This is the reason I have been a complete sloth for the past 2 weeks. I love the snow, but will wait for more yellow on the report before I cut those first tracks. Saturday I will be beacon training at Snowbasin, so if something ever does slide I can pull my buddies out.
Few men actually inspire others with their Christmas light display. This year the VH1blogs staff of Elves have been out spying on their loyal readers and came upon these 2 things of beauty (yes both are readers. Hint: One is a STRONGMAN that inflicts pain on me whenever we ride! The other wears white loafers like Uncle Eddie and loves skin flicks! ). I admire both xmas light displays equally. Why you ask? I figure it is all in the eyes of the beholder. I realize the 1st set of lights represents an insanely fast Leadville time (something I lust for). The second shows pure PANACHE (Also an admirable trait)! Gentlemen for your Christmas spirit I salute you!!!
and

Dug, Rick, Jon and others, you have officially been SERVED! 3 months from today we will line up at Snowbasin to begin what is the first leg of the Kneader’s Cup. What is the Kneader’s Cup? Well we have 3 months to figure out the rules, but the reward has to be breakfast at Kneaders following our weekly American Fork Canyon battle to the summit road rides. I realize these rides won’t start until June so maybe IHOP after hiking would work initially. I think we could figure sprint wins, ICUP placing, hill climbs, and other “events” as part of the points that determines placing. What do you think? I know Tony, Joe, BK, Fatty, Brandon, Aaron, JDub, Mark, and some others will want in so we will need to write the rules in a way that allows someone to join after the battle has begun. You have 3 months from today to start training. Here is the link to the Xterra Winter World Championships
