Posted in Uncategorized on June 6, 2010 by VH1Too tired to type a report but here are some shots from mile 37, 38 and 39. Hardest thing I have ever done. This beast made Leadville look like an icup event. Finished in 11:17 which put me unofficially in 38th place overall, and I am sure it was the fastest time by a “nonrunner”

I am in the blue and these pics do not do justice to how steep this 4 mile climb was. Yes we had to climb that and this was only the 2nd of 3 false summits!

Top of the climb at mile 39.5 and yes that is timp in the background.
Hey Zeph is a 100 miler in our future?

Off-Season
Posted in Training with tags offseason on October 28, 2009 by VH1I don’t know if it is bike burn-out or what, but over the past month I have tried a bunch of activities that I have seriously neglected for the past few years. I forgot how much fun trail running, hiking, camping, deer hunting, and racquetball is. My off-season this year will be to do everything I can to not ride the trainer.
Who knows maybe this week I will start fly-fishing and duck hunting again? Is it wrong to look forward to Mormon church ball?
On another note, Dug the skis are waxed and ready to go
Go Ride Jamie’s Junk
Posted in Uncategorized on October 13, 2009 by VH1If you haven’t been on Jamie’s Junk head up to Corner Canyon and give it a go.
Here is an email I received from Jamie on Saturday
Everyone,
We had a great scout group and some other volunteers and trail bosses
out working on the trail today and got a lot accomplished. I am
happy to report that the first two phases of the trail are ready to
ride. It totals 2 miles and drops you out on the old pipeline road
about 1/2 way down the canyon. From there, you can just take a right
and head down the old road and around a couple of switchbacks and can
jump on Ghost Falls South by the 2 new bridges. It’s a great loop and
a lot of fun.
We have all of phase 3 flagged, and part of phase 4 so we have more to
do, but it’s great to get a payoff for all the work that’s been done
so far. We really need people to ride it and help us to pack it down
and get it “dialed in” so spread the word and let’s get some people up
there riding it.
Thanks for all of you who’ve helped construct these first two phases,
it looks great. For those of you still looking to join us and help on
the next sections, I’ll keep you posted of trail work days on the
calendar. Because of the Scout groups, we usually do Saturdays, but
we’ve gotten requests for other days, or evenings, so let me know if
you want to do another day and we’ll try to make it work.
Thanks,
Jamie

This trail is very rideable on a cross bike!
